13th May 2009David and Ron Loco Naming/David Gay's retirement do
On Friday 20th February two Network Rail men David Gay and Ron Westwood were suprised when they thought they were naming a loco 73141 "Sussex Route" in fact they were naming it after their own names, one on each side.
The event was held at Brighton and it was a tribute to these two men who retired from the railway after nearly 90 years between them.

The scene at Beddingham in East Sussex is changing now as work has started by Alfred McAlpine on the new A27 bridge over the railway to replace the AHB crossing.
On December 15th 2007 the Automatic Half Barrier
crossing closed(the AHB's were installed in Dec 1967) and 2 lanes of the new 3 lane bridge are in use for road traffic.

13th Jul 2005Steam Excursion Sussex 13/07/2005
The Cathedrals Express with Black 5 45231, 10 coaches and 33202 at the rear went to Eastbourne today. It then went empties to Newhaven Marine so that the steam loco could be coaled and watered and the coaches tanked up. Plenty of shunting took place at Newhaven Marine and it really showed that these sidings though little used are a real benefit to the railway network.
We all worked together to get the train prepaired for it's return trip from Eastbourne to London. The signalman was kept busy and the Newhaven Port and Properties Ltd staff helped by providing the water bowser to tank the coaches.
So with the lovely weather and smooth operating at Newhaven it was a great day.
